Shared Kitchen Space is a 4,000 square-foot food hall and commercial kitchen at Market Plaza in Gary, Indiana. We were built in 2026 by Steel City Builders to do three things, in this order:
One. Give the chefs, caterers, and food entrepreneurs of Northwest Indiana a licensed kitchen they can afford — at the hour, the month, or the season.
Two. Run a working restaurant that hands the menu over to a different chef every season — so the public gets to try real new ideas, and the chefs get a real shot at building a customer base.
Three. Be the place where the rest of the food industry — the producers, the bakers, the food trucks, the pop-ups — comes together. Classes, dinners, private events, the works.
Tours are best for people considering a residency, kitchen membership, or private event — but anyone who's curious is welcome. Allow about 20 minutes; tours run Tuesday through Saturday.
